Do you ever have a daily activity where you get started doing it and then get distracted with something else?
Let's say you have a daily Monday - Friday goal of contacting 5 prospects/day that you have in your pipeline. But by the time Friday is over, you've only called a total of 8 people, when it was your goal of contacting 25 for the week.
I know how it happens, because it happens to all of us. We get a phone call and it starts a chain reaction of things that need to be done to complete something "more" important than your calls.
You've lost your focus, because of an outside distraction.
Well, here's an idea for you: have an "EXPLOSION DAY" - it will help you set a new standard in your business. You'll be able to focus solely on your task and when that happens, you "get in the zone". And when you're in the groove of doing your activity, why not extend the time frame of it, so that you can dramatically increase your results.
Instead of spending 30 minutes a day making calls, why not take one day a week, where you EXPLODE and spend 3 - 4 hours doing it.
You won't believe how much easier it is to do it that way, because you won't want to stop.
To prepare for an EXPLOSION Day, you need to change your voice mail to say that you'll be eturning calls in the afternoon. Pick a time. f you have an asst, let them know not to interrupt ou during your 3 - 4 hour period. From 9 - 12noon can be an ideal time.
Don't answer any incoming calls. Just keep calling out. Whether you reach people or just get their answering machines or voice mails, it doesn't matter. You're looking to increase the number of contacts you've made. The more people you contact, the better chance you have of finding someone, who's ready to make a move.
One caveat: if you haven't called your clients orprospects in a long time, make sure they aren'ton the Do Not Call List first. If they are on the list, you may want to send them a note first asking them to call you if they'd like to receive periodic contacts from you with market updates, etc.
